Messenger Bag

Finished this yesterday. I'm always telling my kids I'll do something, and I feel like I drop the ball too often. So, Tessa wanted this, and I started and finished it!

She wanted something to take her stuff in when she went to babysit. It was pattern from Craftster. I love Craftster.

This is the inside. I could have done it a little better, but I was running out of fabric.

Fabric Addict

Michelle thinks she's a fabric addict because she went to two stores and bought some lovely fabric. I wanted her to know there are others out there worse than she is. Me.

I didn't get this from two stores. I got this from one store. That I went to two days in a row. This wasn't all of the fabric I got. This just looked so yummy together. I got it so I could this with it.

Remember Tonya's letters that I was working on? Well, I'm getting better. Probably because I'm using that fabric yumminess to do it with.

Huntington Ritz-Carlton

Dan and I went the Huntington Ritz-Carlton for work (his work, not mine). Our youngest called it his "perk" - even though they did actually do some work. It was some kind of management planning meeting that, apparently, they couldn't do at their office

This has been my throne for the last three days. I could get used to this.

Included with my throne were breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Nice dinners. That I could wear a dress to.

On Thursday, the spouses went to the Huntington Library. The place where Pinkie and Blue Boy live. Did you know that they were not painted by the same person? Well, I did not know that.

The grounds were beautiful. Although, they are all in bloom in May - and it would be spectactular to go then.

The Japanese Gardens.

The Chinese Gardens.

We had tea there. Before we had tea a squirrel was performing for us in a little bush. Just eating berries while we all stood around and stared. He got more attention than Blue Boy did.

My mom came and watched the kids for us, which was real nice of her. We have to get back home because Tessa has a dance to go to.

Venice Beach

My girlfriend and her girls came down for the weekend. One of Amanda's friends came with them and wanted to go to the beach - we decided on Venice Beach. Most people have an idea of what Venice Beach is like. Most people don't know the reality of Venice Beach.

The lady I really wanted a picture of was probably 65 and had piles and piles of bleached blond dreads. She also had a top that exposed A LOT of good sized cleavage. The back view was the best. Jean shorts cut off half way up her ass. Now, we're talking about 60 year old ass cheeks - not a pretty sight.

There were quite a few people with signs wanting money. Of course, they weren't ordinary signs. They said great things like, "Need money for marijuana," and "Need money for a penis elargement."

Then there were the rappers who would want you to listen to their music and then buy their CD. My girlfriend actually SPOKE to one, and then couldn't get rid of him - and I had to tell her that you can't engage them in any way if you don't want them to bug you. But she's just so nice - not like me.

Now, my husband was quite the one to watch. He was there with all of these unsavory characters and 7 women. He was on high alert, keeping track of everyone, making sure no one made a move on his girls.

But, ultimately, he was the one that got hit on. There was a man in front of the Muscle Beach work out area, wearing almost nothing swim trunks, and he was really quite interested in talking to Dan about his "exercise" ball. Dan declined.

Road to California Quilt Show

I went to the Road to California Quilt Show in Ontario all by my little self. My husband was going to go with me. He would have been absolutely miserable had he gone. I have to admit that I was quite shocked at the number of people that were there. You've never seen so many quilters!

There really were some fabulous quilts.

The one on the left was made with over 23,000 one-half inch squares. Can you imagine! On the back of the quilt there was the picture that she recreated with her quilt. Just amazing.

Of course, I enjoyed the shopping - maybe a little too much. So many gadgets! I only bought one yard of fabric - and that was a fabric that I've been looking for, so I thought that was okay.

I'm anxious to try this little template. The quilts were very fun looking, and I've been looking forward to trying curves.

I also got a gem wand - that should really be a lot of fun to use. And something to do felting with. Boy, I really need to get busy!

Letter Blocks

Okay, I LOVE the letter blocks that Tonya creates. The quilts are fabulous and TALK to me. So, I decided that I have to try to do some. Well, here's what I came up with:

As you can see, they are really lacking compared to Tonya's. The second one, which was actually the first one I did, has a great M and O. The second M is yucky. And the first one up there - I totally screwed up the O. Oh well, I went to JoAnn's and got lots of fabric so that I can play with this and hopefully get it down.
